This place has potential because I discovered the first tofu I ever liked that came with the beefy stew. I only ate half of the fungus salad because it was very spicy, even though it was delicious. I can’t tell if I liked or disliked the beefy dish, so I won’t remember that one. I do recommend the restaurant. However, I felt I spent more money than what I would have liked.

8/19/25 - Crab Rangoon: crispy, filled to the brim 10/10 - Shrimp Har Gow: uses a little more sugar, and more grinded up than I like, - Beef Fried Rice: just not my style of rice, made well; not enough of the wok hay for me 6/10 - Salt and Pepper Shrimp: thick and juicy shrimp, mildly crispy outside, seasoned well 8/10 - House Special Beef: was oversalted, weren’t able to finish it.

Hunan Cuisine on Beach Street in Boston’s Chinatown is at least as excellent on the inside as it is enticing on the outside. My lady and I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience in this elegant setting. We arrived at the height of the lunch crowd which began to taper shortly after. Service was very friendly, attentive, and prompt throughout our visit. The meals were amazing. We started with a pair of Spicy Cucumber Salads. For the main, she had Spicy Cumin Flavored Beef while I had Spicy Garlic Pork Ribs; yeah, we like it spicy! The Ribs were outstanding, and unlike any ribs I’ve ever had before. We came away truly impressed. Highly recommended.

The food was delicious and thy were quick at preparing it. The only downside of this place was that it was really busy and noisy. We had a hard time hearing each other! Also prepare for a 15-20 minute waitlist! Overall the food was great.

Typical of the oily and heavy flavoured Hunan cuisine. Other than that their taste is just acceptable at best. What we didn't like was the meat of the pork dumpling smelled old and borderline unusable. The the heavy batter used to disguise the thin ingredient inside fried fish was unacceptable. We are locals but this is another one time only establishment.
