Came here because we heard this place serves up one of the best garlic chicken wings, and we were surprised to find that Gan Bei punches very much above its weight in delivering both a full bar of drinks and Chinese food items that tasted very authentic. We had the garlic wings, fried chicken, and salted and century egg veggie. The wings and fried chicken were delicious as expected, but the standout is the egg veggie dish. I haven't had this dish since I was in Hong Kong years ago, and the dish took me right back. I hope more restaurants would be willing to use century eggs in their dishes to introduce this ingredient to the broader American audience, and show that it's not some disgusting thing that no ones wants to eat.

This was my first time having claypot rice, and in this case it came with eel and Chinese sausage, along with a few vegetables. This rice was just fantastic. It felt dry - kind of like it got the texture of fried rice, but not undercooked at all. It didn't feel like it needed any additional water is what I mean. Each grain felt like it had a crispness to it I haven't quite experienced with any other type of rice. It even had a bit of crunch. When you get all the way down to the bottom, the rice gets charred - but not burnt - and develops that scorched nature that's the hallmark of this type of rice. Eating the rice at the bottom of the pot was truly my favorite part. The proteins I was slightly mixed on. The eel was good, but there wasn't enough in the pot - just two or three pieces. The Chinese sausage was more plentiful, but it didn't have much flavor and felt a little hard to chew. The vegetables were solid though For the price, it ended up at around $30 for the rice and a beer. It is a solid amount of rice in the pot, but for that, I would've preferred more meat. Overall, it's a very unique dish where I loved the rice, but everything else was hit or miss. 7.75/10

Fantastic food! Highly recommend the chow fen and someone from the daily special menu! We got the kimchi bacon fried rice and it was delicious! Lively atmosphere, 21+ only. It was pretty busy and they were understaffed so service could be better but that didn’t take away from the fantastic food.

Such delicious food! We got the chili dumplings, hot and sour soup, Mongolian beef, mapo tofu, and fried chicken and gravy. Everything was excellent and we’ll be back!

Underwhelming Chinese food. The concept and ambience were cool but I care mostly about the food in a restaurant and it didn’t deliver. Everything was super super salty and the beef stew was really fatty and lacked the layered taste you’d find in this traditional Cantonese dish. The fried chicken dish was the only dish that tasted ok. Will not come back.
