A great spot on the River Walk for a refreshing drink and a fun atmosphere. Their famous frozen Irish coffee with Baileys is absolutely delicious and highly recommended. The service was very good, and the overall vibe of the place makes it a perfect stop to relax and enjoy the area.

Walking around the riverwalk we were hungry for dinner and found Waxy O’Connor Irish Pub on the riverwalk. With seating both inside and outside we choose to people watch and sit outside. Outside has the advantage of the riverwalk view as well. The fish and chips and chicken curry were just great. Funny to be eating curry in San Antonio but it is what it is. When it’s good food - gotta eat it.

Stopped here twice. First time for a couple drinks while sitting outside. The drinks were perfect and service was great. Second stop, we sat inside with a different server. Service was bare minimum at best. The food looks a lot better than it tastes. Fries were raw on inside. There was a performer named mark that should learn a few Celtic songs if going to play in an Irish pub. With his style,none of the patrons were getting in a fun mood. Also as a suggestion, get a mobile payment machine. In the year 2026, it feels strange to have someone take your card and go tap a payment out of sight from you. I highly doubt this place would skim your card or do something illegal with it but you never know and it would bring more comfort to the customers.

Waxy O’Conner’s is a great Irish pub right on the River Walk with a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. I was seated quickly, and the service was fast and attentive from start to finish. I ordered the shepherd’s pie and it was excellent—creamy mashed potatoes, a rich, hearty filling, and perfectly melted cheese on top. Everything came out hot and fresh. If you’re looking for classic comfort food with quick service in a River Walk setting, this is definitely a spot worth visiting.

We were looking for food late at night on the River Walk and ended up at Waxy's around 1:00 AM. I'm so glad we did! The drinks were good, but honestly, the food completely stole the show. The wings were crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the fish and chips and said they may be the best he's ever had. The fish was hot, crispy, and delicious, and the portion size was great. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive throughout the entire meal. She made sure our drinks stayed full and kept the food coming, even that late at night, which made the experience even better. It's not always easy to find quality food and great service at 1:00 AM, but Waxy's delivered on both. If you're on the River Walk and looking for a late-night meal, this place is absolutely worth a visit. We will definitely be back!
