I love your food! But the sesame chicken is not so good anymore. It is soggy and not crispy and crunchy like it used to be! Please go back to recipe. My co-workers don’t want to go back to skyway wok anymore because of the sesame chicken.

I was craving Asian cuisine and found Skyway Wok based on reviews. Be aware, it has very limited opening hours (only open for breakfast and lunch) and it’s tucked away on the second floor of an office building, so it’s not the easiest place to locate. The space itself is small and a bit chaotic during lunch hours, definitely not a relaxing spot to sit and dine, which is one reason I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars. But this is a perfect takeaway spot. I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice, and wow—you get a lot for your money. I couldn’t even finish it all, and it was packed in an easy-to-carry takeaway box. From what I’ve gathered, this is among the most affordable meals available in downtown Minneapolis.

Not sure what all the hype is about, maybe as others have mentioned previous recipes/cooks, but the food is mediocre at best now. Ordered sesame chicken, orange chicken and fried rice to get a variety. All lacked proper seasoning, most notably the rice- where white rice has more flavor. For what they charge ($15) there are certainly much better options for lunch in the skyway. As a huge fan of this style Chinese food, very much disappointed and will not be returning.

They changed their recipes and the items are subpar compared to in the past. The egg rolls are still giant but the filling changed where there is very little meat. Before it was a ton of ground pork, glass noodles, black mushroom etc. Now it is mostly carrots. The sesame chicken isn't quite the same too...mostly batter and little chicken. Although they give you a very large serving for the price so it is good value for lunch. Wish they didn't mess with the original recipes.

I tried this place in 2024. It used to be my number 1 favorite Chinese food take out. Because everything was delicious. I usually got sesame chicken thats crunchy, spicy wings , and chow mein. But unfortunately I heard in the recent reviews the food is not what it used to be. So last week I went to go try it again, so that I can give my critique. At first glance most of the food still looked decent. I ordered the usual items I mentioned, except the chow mein noodles. Because that was the only item that looked very different than before. It looked very bland almost looks like a plain spaghetti noodles with some vegetables, but that might be a different dish and probablygot rid of the chow mein completely. So instead I had fried rice with sesame chicken and spicy wings. They did not taste very good, the sesame chicken was soggy and some of the pieces tasted expired so i discarded the rest. The wings and fried rice had less spices also less flavor, not getting that wok hay taste of the rice but also didn't taste like fried rice anymore. Plus wings needed to be cooked a little longer. I think the reason why the quality is lacking is because theres a different owner now. Atleast that's what I read in the other reviews, but it seems to be true. Since I also saw a new owner in person. She seems nice, but i recommend she sticks to the original recipe of what the previous owner had. But also having the original constituency and quality, because thats what made this restaurant successful. It could also be because there might different cooks that made it go downhill, but I'm unsure. Its okay to have some changes if it actually needs to, but it doesn't. Theres really no point of changing if the quality is lacking, and its losing more customers especially regulars. Because it used to be packed with tons of people. But now , not anymore. Mainly because they have experienced tge same problem as me. But I hope the new owner and cooks take these people's reviews seriously and go back to the original recipe. Because we used to love going here, so its heartbreaking that it's not the same. So i won't be coming back until I hear they went back to the original recipe.
