Easy to order, but seem to be one type of dumpling per order and they're big/filling. Come in as a couple or four and then you can trade! Pork dumplings fried with house dipping sauce are excellent! Hot Jasmine tea was a good accompaniment.

I liked the pork & chive dumplings but the Beef Cheese pancake was quite literally unseasoned beef in a plain pancake. Zero onions or cheese. Would not order again.

I saw the great reviews and was hoping for a good experience. There was nobody to greet us. The food came out in paper plates you would find at a youth football game instead of the advertised bowls. Not all the food was cooked despite selecting hot for the noodles. The peppers weren’t grilled. It was a disappointment honestly. I was looking forward to some good dumplings. I would recommend the egg rolls but nothing else really.

If you're a dumpling lover, Hal Bao Dumpling on K Street in Sacramento might just hit the spot, though it's a mixed experience overall. Let’s start with the food. We kicked things off with the spring rolls, and wow—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying. The House Chow Mein was equally impressive, a nice balance of savory goodness. But the dumplings? Well, they were a bit underwhelming. They lacked the depth of flavor you'd hope for, more like a meatball wrapped in wet dough than the juicy, flavorful dumpling experience I was hoping for. Thankfully, the house and sesame sauces helped elevate the flavor, adding some much-needed zest to each bite. Now, for the ambiance—let’s just say it's a no-frills setup. The restaurant could definitely use some visual upgrades, and food arrives on a cafeteria tray with paper plates. Not exactly a five-star dining experience, but if you’re in the mood for dumplings and happen to be in the area, this spot can certainly scratch that itch. Hal Bao Dumpling is a good, casual choice for when you're craving dumplings—just don’t expect much more than that!

The food here has been really consistently good. The staff are very friendly.It’s small and close to the street. The menu is small but that’s how they keep it good. I recommend the dumpling soup and tacos.
