Exceptional food and great service! We were surprised to find delicious authentic Chinese food in the heart of Houston outside of Chinatown. The pork with bean curd was a standout favorite. You can tell they get a lot of regulars. Waitress was very helpful and patient even with the steady stream of customers coming in. Food came quickly even with the crowds.

My family and I have been fortunate to enjoy Hu's Cooking for many years, and it has become one of our favorite dining spots! We absolutely love the delicious food and the wonderful service that make each visit special. Mr. Hu truly goes above and beyond to ensure everyone feels like a cherished guest. From his warm greetings to personally delivering our meals and even taking the time to tidy up the walkways, his attention to detail and commitment to hospitality are unmatched. Being regulars at Hu's Cooking always feels like coming home, and we wholeheartedly recommend this delightful restaurant for any occasion. You won’t be disappointed!

Huscooking is truly a hidden gem! The dishes are generous in portion and full of authentic flavor. The spicy hot pot is rich and numbing without being overwhelming, while the pickled cabbage beef is tangy, refreshing, and tender. The spicy “Mao Xue Wang” comes with a variety of ingredients, bold flavors, and pairs perfectly with rice. The cold beef with crushed peanuts is aromatic, crunchy, and well-seasoned. Service is friendly, the food comes out quickly, and the environment is clean and comfortable. Whether for a casual meal with friends or a family gathering, this is definitely a place worth revisiting!

Hu's Cooking is by far the best Chinese food I have had in a long time in Houston, Texas. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. The main dishes are served in very large portions. I highly recommend this place.

This was my first time eating from this restaurant and it more than likely will be my last because I didn't like my 1st experience. My mother & I were looking for a good Chinese restaurant near the medical center since most of our days are spent at the hospital and this place was supposedly listed as one of the best. But anything rated you have to take with a grain of salt bc it's always based on who's being surveyed. I was the first customer to arrive today and got there about 15mins before they opened so waited until the doors opened. Once I walked in all the employees were congregated at the counter as they waited for customers to start rolling in. I was greeted and given a menu and ordered: shrimp fried rice, Mongolian beef and the vegetable spring rolls. As I stepped to the side to wait for my food, I observed the other staff members as a few more customers started strolling in. I can say that there were some red flags that I saw from the beginning that I tried to overlook as I gave this place a try. The restaurant already had cups prefilled with water sitting on the counter and just added ice to it when serving to the customers. The owner/manager pulled into the parking lot and a few employees went out to help him get supplies from the back of his pickup. He had bulk pans (that were not covered in anything protective; just exposed to the elements) for the food and other restaurant items in the back of his truck bed. Definitely not sanitary, but hopefully they wash them before using. As I waited for my order one of the employees grabbed several paper towels and versus going to the restroom...blew his nose right in front of me and the kitchen counter then had the nerve to immediately grab the food I assumed was what I had just ordered and place a lid on it. I instantly asked, "Is that my food? I don't want that, he just blew his nose, didn't wash his hands and then grabbed my food!" The few employees in the area including the owner looked surprised like they didn't know what I was talking about. The owner realized I was serious and put that particular container of food to the side and offered to remake the meal. I allowed it, but at that point was already grossed out and who knows what they were doing in the kitchen with the fried rice being remade bc I couldn't see into the kitchen. Once the entire order was given to me, the manager apologized again and I left. The food was ok, not amazing enough to return. The vegetable springs rolls were bland and were more rice paper than contents, the Mongolian beef was bland and we didn't finished it, ended up giving it away. It had more onions than meat. The fried rice wasn't bad though & was the only thing we ate in its entirety. Obviously the employees here have poor food safety/handling practices and it's not enforced because the entire time I was there no one washed their hands after either playing in their hair, blowing their nose, handling cash, mopping floor, etc. I'm 4wks postpartum and am breastfeeding, so definitely don't need anything jeopardizing my immune system. Ambience is ok inside, exterior of building could use a facelift. Pricing is reasonable; I paid $40.59 for 3 items total. We obviously have a high standard when it comes to food, so others maybe able to overlook a lot of what I said, but there are always better options out there that value every aspect of dining experience and we'll patronize those places.
